Photo 19 "Spider Close Up"

The Story
I'd seen these striking red coloured leaves one day when I was in the garden and I took the camera out today to photograph them, but I set myself a challenge to get a good close up of this spider that was there too.  I'm pretty happy with this as it was hard to get a nice close-up but sharply focused shot.

The Story
I've been curious for a while now about how our cat would respond to catnip, so I bought some today and put it in this little pouch.  These are the results!

The Story
I enjoyed this view of cumulus clouds with cirrus clouds in the background.  Unfortunately they haven't come out so well in this picture as I took it with a very basic mobile phone camera, but hopefully you get the idea and can enjoy it too. 

In other news, my pinhole camera is now complete and I've taken a few photos with it today.  Can't wait to see the results!  Hopefully I'll get a few good ones I can put up on here.  Will keep you up-to-date!

The Story

The Story
I haven't updated my blog in so long!  Anyway, I thought this was a good photo opportunity today, and a good way of starting up again.  I liked the heart shape in the paint  ^_^  (It was semi-deliberate).

The Story
Oh dear, been over a week since I last posted!  I must do better.
Anyway, I saw a nice cloud when I got back from the supermarket - contrail lit by the setting sun so it was really bright.  Typically, however, by the time I'd come back outside with the camera it had gone.  So I snapped this sunset scene. It looked better in real life than it does here.  Ah well, it's a picture after 8 days of no posting.

The Story
The cherries I have been eagerly anticipating - they have finally ripened.  And yes, they were worth waiting for as they are a delight both gastronomically and aesthetically. 

Photo 12 "Sundog"

The Story
I was at my parents' house a few days ago and was excited when I saw a Sundog, an optical effect created by the sun and clouds, I'm sure you can look it up on Wikipedia or something.
I've only ever seen them on one side of the sun and was saying how I'd really like to see one on both sides.  Now, less than a week later just that happened!  I took some pics of the one at my parents' house, but they didn't turn out that well.  This one is only marginally better and only shows the one sundog (the brighter one and the one I saw first). 
I took it with my mobile, in this case it was more about capturing a moment rather than taking a spectacular shot I guess.

The second in my series showing the cherries in our garden ripening over a period of time.  They're already looking much redder!

Woo-hoo 10 photos!  Already I've slipped up on the whole photo-a-day thing, but I think as long as I put something up MOST days that should be ok right?

The Story
Our cat was asleep and looked so comfy of course, as I predicted she woke up when I came near her with the camera, but luckily she didn't run off as I'd also predicted.
I had to take a few shots as because of her dark fur the lighter areas in the pictures were over-exposed.

The Story
A little late as the cherries are already beginning to turn red, but I thought it might be interesting to see them ripen over a few days or so.  My mouth is already watering  :)

The Story
After a minor celebratory dinner for which our guest brought Champagne.  I liked the look of the Champagne in the glass.  (Yes, I know it's not the correct type of glass for Champagne, but hey, what can you do?)

It was rainy, no good for taking pictures outside, so I took this of the raindrops on the window, showing the garden out of focus in the background.  :)

Not so much of a story really, I just took the camera out into the garden and took a few photos.  I decided on this one as it's slightly different from the many close-ups of flowers I seem to take, haha.  I'm sure you'll get to see plenty of those in the coming weeks/months.

I was washing the car in the front garden and spotted these beautiful roses.  I made a mental note to take a picture of them. As it happens there was a bee buzzing among them when I came out with the camera, so I snapped that too.

Run up to the World Cup (the first England game is tomorrow), it seemed like Il-Shim was getting patriotic and created this after dinner.  I didn't have a photo yet for today, so I took the opportunity to snap this :D

It's my new laptop, it's all shiny and new and beautiful and I thought it deserved to have its photo taken.  Also, I'm using it for making this blog  :)

The Story
It's my first photo, so I think I can be forgiven for the fact I took it with my mobile, not with the DSLR.  Photography isn't just about having a great camera, it's about developing an eye for pictures and I liked this - I thought it was amusing and hoped people would smile when they saw it. 

New Laptop - New Blog

I am going to unashamedly admit that I stole this idea from Sam. I am going to (try to) post a photo a day with the idea being to improve my photography skills. It just so happens that this coincides with my getting a new laptop, so this seemed like a good time to start.

I'm busy transfering files and so on, but hopefully I will put a photo up soon.
